Jedi Order. The Jedi Order was a noble, monastic, and quasi-military organization united in their devotion to the light side of the Force. For millennia, they served as the guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic, operating from their ancient temple on Coruscant. The Order was ultimately destroyed during the Clone Wars in the Great Jedi Purge, executed by Darth Sidious and his new Galactic Empire.

History and origins

The origins of the Jedi are shrouded in antiquity, tracing back to approximately 25,000 years before the Battle of Yavin. The earliest proto-Jedi philosophers first studied the Force on worlds like Ahch-To and Tython, seeking to understand its unifying energy. Over millennia, these disparate groups coalesced into a formal Order, establishing a central temple on Coruscant after the Force Wars on Tython. Their history is marked by pivotal conflicts against the Sith, such as the Great Hyperspace War, the Great Sith War led by Exar Kun, and the New Sith Wars, which culminated in the Ruusan Reformation. This reformation restructured the Galactic Republic and bound the Jedi to serve it directly, setting the stage for their eventual downfall during the Clone Wars and the machinations of Darth Sidious.

Organization and structure

The Jedi were governed by the Jedi High Council, a body of twelve masters, including senior members like Yoda and Mace Windu, which convened in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
