Geography and climate

The metropolitan area spans over 4,000 square miles across the Florida peninsula, characterized by a relatively flat terrain dotted with numerous lakes, including the large Lake Apopka and the chain of lakes within the City of Orlando. The region features a humid subtropical climate with hot, wet summers and mild, drier winters, typical of the Southeastern United States.
