The regular season began on March 20 with the Los Angeles Dodgers defeating the San Diego Padres in the Seoul Series in South Korea, and concluded on October 27. The World Series saw the defending champion Texas Rangers defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks in a rematch of the previous year's National League Championship Series.
