Husted Hall

Husted Hall is a prominent building located on the campus of the State University of New York at New Paltz, designed by renowned architect Paul Rudolph and completed in 1969. ● Renovations

In recent years, Husted Hall has undergone significant renovations and upgrades, aimed at improving the building's energy efficiency, accessibility, and overall functionality. The renovations were carried out in consultation with experts from the National Institute of Building Sciences, the American Society of Interior Designers, and the International Code Council, and incorporated elements of Universal design and Inclusive design, inspired by the works of Ron Mace, Selwyn Goldsmith, and Jordana Maisie. The project included the installation of new Elevator systems, Fire suppression systems, and HVAC systems, as well as the creation of new Study spaces, Collaboration rooms, and Lounge areas, designed to promote student engagement and community building, with input from Howard Gardner, Daniel Goleman, and Peter Senge. The renovations have enhanced the overall student experience at SUNY New Paltz, which is also home to the Institute for Disaster Mental Health, the Center for Research, Regional Education and Outreach, and the Hudson Valley Advanced Manufacturing Center.
