CARE International

CARE International is a global Non-governmental organization dedicated to providing Humanitarian aid and promoting Sustainable development in Developing countries. Founded in 1945, CARE International has worked with United Nations agencies such as the United Nations Development Programme and the World Food Programme to address Poverty reduction and Food security issues. CARE International has also collaborated with other organizations like Oxfam International, Save the Children, and the International Rescue Committee to respond to Natural disasters and Refugee crises.

● History

CARE International was established in 1945 by Arthur C. Ringland and Lincoln Clark with the goal of providing Food assistance to War-torn Europe after World War II. The organization's first mission was to deliver Care packages to Displaced persons in Germany and Austria, working closely with the American Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Over the years, CARE International has expanded its operations to Africa, Asia, and Latin America, responding to Humanitarian crises such as the Biafran famine, the Bangladesh Liberation War, and the Rwandan genocide. CARE International has also worked with Celebrity ambassadors like Angelina Jolie and George Clooney to raise awareness about Global poverty and Human rights issues.

CARE International is a federation of Non-governmental organizations with Member organizations in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States. The organization is governed by a Board of directors composed of representatives from each Member organization, and is headed by a Secretary general who oversees the Global secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland. CARE International has also established Regional offices in Nairobi, Kenya, Kathmandu, Nepal, and Bogotá, Colombia to coordinate its operations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
