Andover, Massachusetts is a town located in Essex County, Massachusetts, approximately 25 miles north of Boston and near the Merrimack River. The town is home to Phillips Academy, a prestigious Ivy League-feeder school, and Andover Newton Theological School, a graduate school affiliated with Yale University. Andover is also close to Lawrence, Massachusetts, Haverhill, Massachusetts, and North Andover, Massachusetts, and is part of the Greater Boston metropolitan area, which includes Cambridge, Massachusetts, Salem, Massachusetts, and Lowell, Massachusetts. The town has a rich history, with notable residents including Harriet Beecher Stowe, Julia Ward Howe, and Robert Frost, who often visited the nearby Robert Frost Farm in Derry, New Hampshire.
