Originally designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio in collaboration with Steve Wynn, the course opened in 2005 as part of the Wynn Las Vegas resort complex. History

The course was constructed on the former site of the Desert Inn Golf Club, a historic venue that hosted tournaments like the PGA Tour's Las Vegas Invitational. Following the acquisition of the Desert Inn by Wynn Resorts, the original course was completely demolished and rebuilt. This ambitious project, led by Steve Wynn and Tom Fazio, involved importing thousands of mature trees and significant earthmoving to create a dramatic, rolling landscape. The club operated from 2005 until 2017, when it was closed to make way for a new expansion project by Wynn Resorts, including the Wynn and Encore resorts. In 2019, a new iteration of the course, redesigned by Tom Fazio, reopened on a significantly reconfigured footprint.

Course design and layout

The original 18-hole design by Tom Fazio was a par-70 championship layout stretching 6,722 yards from the back tees. It was celebrated for its stark contrast to the surrounding Mojave Desert, presenting a verdant, meticulously manicured parkland experience. Key design elements included numerous cascading waterfalls, a large lake affecting several holes, and strategic bunkering. The course featured several notable holes, with the closing stretch around the lake providing a dramatic finish. While primarily a private facility for guests of Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Las Vegas, the club has hosted several high-profile corporate and charity events. It served as the venue for the annual Wynn Invitational, a pro-am event that attracted celebrities and professional golfers from the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. The course's challenging design and pristine conditions made it a sought-after location for television shoots and commercial productions. Its history is also connected to the Las Vegas Invitational, as it occupied the land of a former host course, linking it to the legacy of professional golf in the Las Vegas Valley.
