This goal drives its members to pursue legendary Pokémon with the power to reshape the universe.

The origins are closely tied to its founder, Cyrus, a reclusive genius who grew disillusioned with a world he perceived as flawed by human spirit and emotion. He established its base of operations in Veilstone City, utilizing the façade of a legitimate energy company to fund and conceal its true activities. Key early operations involved extensive research into Sinnoh's myths, particularly those concerning the lake guardians Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, and the creation of the Red Chain. The organization's history is marked by escalating confrontations with the player character and their rivals like Barry and Professor Rowan, culminating in a crisis at the Spear Pillar atop Mt. Coronet.

The syndicate operates under a strict, corporate-like hierarchy. At its apex is the leader, Cyrus, who dictates all major directives from the headquarters. Directly beneath him are the three field Commanders: the fiery Mars, the stern Jupiter, and the calculating Saturn, each responsible for leading squads of Grunts in various operations. The rank-and-file members, easily identified by their blue uniforms and distinctive haircuts, carry out tasks ranging from theft and intimidation to operating complex machinery like the bomb used on Lake Valor. The organization also employs scientists, such as those at the Team Galactic Eterna Building, to develop technology for controlling legendary Pokémon.

Goals and ideology

The core ambition is the creation of a new, perfect universe, a goal stemming directly from Cyrus's nihilistic philosophy. He believes that the current world is irreparably broken due to the existence of spirit and human emotion, which he views as sources of conflict and imperfection. To achieve this, he seeks to harness the power of the creation trio of Sinnoh myth: Dialga and Palkia, or their combined form Giratina. By using the Red Chain to control these deities, he intends to erase and remake all existence into a static, emotionless void. This apocalyptic ideology sets it apart from groups like Team Rocket or Team Magma, whose aims are comparatively mundane.

Major activities

Its operations are vast and directly tied to its cosmic goals. A primary focus was the theft of the Adamant Orb and Lustrous Orb from the Celestic Town museum to empower Dialga and Palkia. Simultaneously, teams were deployed to capture the lake guardians at Lake Verity, Lake Valor, and Lake Acuity to forge the Red Chain. This included deploying a powerful explosive at Lake Valor to force Azelf to appear. The climax occurred at the Spear Pillar, where Cyrus successfully summoned one of the legendary dragons, leading to a spatial or temporal crisis that was only resolved by the intervention of the player character. In the aftermath depicted in Pokémon Platinum, remnants of the group were investigated by Looker of the International Police.
