It is the setting for the core series games released in 2006, where players journey to complete the Pokédex and challenge the Sinnoh League. Sinnoh features a varied landscape dominated by the towering Mt. Coronet, which splits the region into eastern and western halves with distinct climates. The east, including areas like Floaroma Town and Pastoria City, is generally warmer and more temperate, while the west, home to Snowpoint City and Route 217, experiences harsh, perpetual winter conditions. Significant bodies of water include the massive Lake Valor, Lake Verity, and Lake Acuity, each said to be guarded by a legendary Pokémon. Other notable geographical features are the Great Marsh safari zone, the volcanic Stark Mountain, and the fog-shrouded Sendoff Spring.

History

Ancient Sinnoh, known as the Hisui region, was the site of early human settlement and the founding of Jubilife Village, which later evolved into a major metropolis. The region's deep history is intertwined with the creation myths surrounding the Legendary Pokémon Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, as chronicled in texts like the ancient myths. Key historical events include the conflict between the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan, the construction of the Temple of Sinnoh atop Mt. Coronet, and the activities of the early survey corps led by Commander Kamado. More recent history involves the thwarted plans of Team Galactic and its leader Cyrus, who sought to use the legendary Pokémon to reshape the universe at the Spear Pillar.

Culture and society

Sinnoh's culture blends modern innovation with deep reverence for tradition and mythology, evident in the Pokémon Contests held in Hearthome City and the ancient rituals performed at the Celestic Town historical site. The region is a hub for Pokémon research, spearheaded by Professor Rowan's work on Pokémon evolution and the Sinnoh Pokédex.
