This transformation was influenced by the political and economic changes in Eastern Europe, particularly the Hungarian and Polish parties' transitions. The party's early history was marked by its efforts to establish a multi-party system in Albania, alongside opposition parties. In 1992, Berisa's government was succeeded by Dr. Sali Berisha, but the Socialists returned to power in 1997 under Fatos Nano.

Ideology and Platform

The Socialist Party of Albania advocates for social democracy, democracy, and European integration. The party supports market-oriented economic reforms, human rights, and freedom of speech. Its platform emphasizes social justice, equality, and sustainable development.
