Råholt. Råholt is a significant village and former municipality located within Eidsvoll Municipality in the county of Viken, Norway. History

The history of Råholt is deeply intertwined with the regional power center of Romerike. Archaeological finds indicate settlement dating back to the Iron Age. During the Viking Age, the area was part of the petty kingdom of Ringerike before being consolidated under the unified Norwegian kingdom. Råholt gained prominence as a local administrative and judicial center, historically serving as a thing site. It was established as a separate municipality on 1 January 1915 when it was split from Eidsvoll, but it was later merged back into Eidsvoll on 1 January 1964 following nationwide municipal reforms. The Råholt Church, a medieval stone church, stands as a testament to its long-standing community.

Traditionally, the economy of Råholt was dominated by agriculture, utilizing the fertile lands of Romerike. This base has diversified significantly over recent decades. It is a primary station on the Dovre Line, a critical segment of the national Gardermoen Line which connects Oslo to Trondheim via Gardermoen Airport. The Råholt Station is served by frequent regional train services operated by Vy. The village is also intersected by the European route E6, the main arterial road running north-south through the country, providing direct road access to Oslo, Lillehammer, and the northern regions. This combination of rail and road infrastructure makes Råholt a strategic logistics and commuter hub.

Several individuals with connections to Råholt have gained prominence in various fields. The Labour Party politician and former Minister of Agriculture, Kjell Bøhmer, was born here. In sports, footballer Morten Berre, who played for clubs including Vålerenga and the national team, hails from the area. Musician and composer Øystein Dolmen, known for his work with the band D.D.E., also has roots in the region. Furthermore, author and poet Kjell Erik Vindtorn, though associated with Oslo, had familial ties to the district, reflecting the area's cultural contributions.
