Ho Iat Seng

Ho Iat Seng is a Macau politician and businessman who has been serving as the 3rd Chief Executive of Macau since 1 July 2020. He was elected as the Chief Executive in 2019 and succeeded Chui Sai On. Early Life and Education

After completing his studies, Ho Iat Seng pursued further education at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he earned a Master's degree in Business Administration.

Career

Before entering politics, Ho Iat Seng had a successful career in business. He worked for several companies, including Banco Comercial Português and Macau Airlines, and held various leadership positions. In 2009, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Macau Economic Development Council, a position he held until 2014. During his tenure, he played a key role in promoting Macau's economic development and trade relations with other countries, including China, Portugal, and Brazil.

Political Career

Ho Iat Seng's entry into politics began in 2005, when he was elected as a member of the Macau Legislative Assembly. He served in the Assembly for several terms, during which he focused on issues related to economic development, public administration, and social welfare. In 2012, he was appointed as the Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau, a position he held until 2019. As Secretary, he was responsible for developing and implementing policies related to fiscal affairs, trade, and investment.

Chief Executive of Macau

On 25 September 2019, Ho Iat Seng was elected as the 3rd Chief Executive of Macau, with 338 votes in favor and 21 against. He took office on 1 July 2020, succeeding Chui Sai On. As Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng has prioritized economic diversification, infrastructure development, and improving the quality of life for Macau residents. He has also emphasized the importance of strengthening relations with China and other countries, while maintaining Macau's autonomy and distinctive identity.
