Nanchang University

Nanchang University is a comprehensive university located in Nanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi Province, China. It was established in 1940 as the National Zhongzheng University, and has since undergone several mergers and name changes, including merging with Jiangxi University in 1993. ● History

The history of Nanchang University dates back to 1940, when it was founded as the National Zhongzheng University by Chiang Kai-shek, the leader of the Kuomintang. During the Chinese Civil War, the university was relocated several times, including to Chongqing and Taipei. In 1949, the university was renamed Jiangxi University and began to focus on Agricultural science and Engineering. In 1993, Jiangxi University merged with Nanchang University (1958-1993) to form the current Nanchang University, with Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin playing key roles in the merger.
