InterAcademy Partnership

InterAcademy Partnership is a global network of National Academy of Sciences, Royal Society, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Indian National Science Academy, aiming to provide United Nations-related advice on critical issues such as Climate Change, Sustainable Development Goals, and Global Health. The partnership works closely with World Health Organization, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and International Council for Science to address global challenges. It also collaborates with European Commission, National Science Foundation, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support Science Diplomacy and Innovation initiatives. The InterAcademy Partnership is headquartered in Trieste, Italy, and has members from over 140 countries, including Academia Europaea, African Academy of Sciences, and Australian Academy of Science.

The InterAcademy Partnership is a unique organization that brings together the world's premier Science Academies, including National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Academy of Medicine, to address global challenges. The partnership works with International Energy Agency, World Bank, and European Union to provide evidence-based advice on critical issues such as Energy Security, Food Security, and Water Management. It also collaborates with Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and University of Cambridge to support Research and Development initiatives. The InterAcademy Partnership has a strong focus on Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing, working with African Union, Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and European Research Council to support the development of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and Innovation Ecosystems.

History

The InterAcademy Partnership was established in 2000, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Academy of Sciences, Royal Society, and Chinese Academy of Sciences. The partnership has since grown to include over 140 member academies from around the world, including Indian National Science Academy, Australian Academy of Science, and Canadian Academy of Engineering. The InterAcademy Partnership has a long history of collaboration with United Nations agencies, including United Nations Environment Programme, United Nations Development Programme, and World Food Programme. It has also worked with European Commission, National Science Foundation, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support Global Health and Sustainable Development initiatives.

Membership

The partnership has a strong focus on Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing, working with African Union, Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and European Union to support the development of Science Diplomacy and Global Governance initiatives.
