Goergen Athletic Center

Goergen Athletic Center is a state-of-the-art athletic facility located on the campus of the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. The center is named after Robert B. Goergen, a University of Rochester alumnus and former Pfizer CEO, who donated $10 million to the university for the construction of the facility. The Goergen Athletic Center is home to the Rochester Yellowjackets men's basketball and Rochester Yellowjackets women's basketball teams, which compete in the University Athletic Association and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Goergen Athletic Center was constructed between 2007 and 2009, with a grand opening ceremony held in September 2009. The facility was designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects and built by LeChase Construction Services, with a construction cost of over $20 million. The center is named after Robert B. The Goergen Athletic Center features a main arena with a Hardwood floor, which can seat up to 1,700 spectators for basketball games and other events. The facility also includes a Fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, a Weight room with free weights and strength training equipment, and a Sports medicine facility with athletic training and physical therapy services. The center also features several Classrooms and Meeting rooms, which are used for academic and administrative purposes by the University of Rochester Athletics department. The facility is also equipped with a Concession stand and a Ticket office, which are operated by Sodexo and University of Rochester Athletics staff.
