Gary Peters

Gary Peters is an American politician serving as the junior United States Senator from Michigan since 2015. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Michigan's 9th congressional district from 2009 to 2013 and Michigan's 14th congressional district from 2013 to 2015. Peters has worked with various organizations, including the Democratic National Committee and the Michigan Democratic Party. He has also been involved with the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and the City of Detroit.

● Early Life and Education

Gary Peters was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and grew up in Oakland County, Michigan. He attended Rochester High School (Michigan) and later graduated from Alma College with a degree in Political Science. Peters also earned a master's degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar at University College, Oxford. Additionally, he received a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School and a Master of Business Administration from University of Detroit Mercy. Peters has been involved with the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the United States Navy Reserve.

● Career

Before entering politics, Peters worked as a professor at Central Michigan University and as a financial advisor for Merill Lynch. He also served on the Rochester Hills City Council and was a member of the Michigan Lottery Commission. Peters has been involved with various organizations, including the National Association of Secretaries of State, the National Governors Association, and the Council of State Governments. He has also worked with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the Detroit Regional Chamber.
