Forsyth County, North Carolina is a county located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, bordered by Stokes County to the north, Rockingham County to the northeast, Guilford County to the east, Davidson County to the south, and Yadkin County and Davie County to the west. The county is home to Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Forsyth County is part of the Winston-Salem, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area and is situated near the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The county is also close to the North Carolina Zoo and the USS North Carolina.

Geography

History

Forsyth County was established in 1849 from parts of Stokes County and is named after Benjamin Forsyth, a War of 1812 hero who was killed in action at the Battle of Odelltown.
