Acton, Massachusetts is a town located in Middlesex County, about twenty-one miles northwest of Boston. The town is situated near the Assabet River and is part of the Greater Boston area, which includes neighboring towns like Concord and Carlisle. Acton is also close to the Fort Devens historic site and the Minute Man National Historical Park, which commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The town is home to the Acton Memorial Library, a member of the Minuteman Library Network, and is served by the MBTA Commuter Rail.

Geography

Acton, Massachusetts is bordered by the towns of Westford to the north, Littleton to the west, Stow to the southwest, Maynard to the south, Concord to the southeast, and Carlisle to the east. History

The area that is now Acton, Massachusetts was first settled in 1639 and was originally part of the town of Concord. The town was officially incorporated in 1735 and was named after Acton, London, a district in London, England.
