Zachary Ross

Zachary Ross is an American actor and producer known for his work in independent film and television. He gained recognition for his role in the Sundance Film Festival-premiering drama The Last Light and later starred in the Netflix original series Chronos. His performances have earned him a Saturn Award nomination and praise from critics at publications like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.

Early life and education

Zachary Ross was born in Seattle and developed an interest in performing through local theater productions at venues like the Seattle Repertory Theatre. He attended Roosevelt High School, where he participated in competitive speech and drama, winning a state championship in dramatic interpretation. Ross subsequently moved to Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California's USC School of Dramatic Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. During his time at USC, he performed in several stage productions at the Bing Theatre and completed an internship at the Geffen Playhouse.

Career

Ross began his professional career with guest appearances on television series such as Criminal Minds and Castle. His breakthrough came with a supporting role in the 2017 indie film The Last Light, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was later distributed by A24. This led to his casting as a series regular in the Netflix science fiction series Chronos, a role he played for three seasons. Concurrently, Ross expanded into producing, founding the production company Meridian Pictures with fellow USC alumnus Alex Chen. Their first feature, The Silent Shore, was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival in 2021. Ross has also performed voice work for video games, including a role in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor developed by Respawn Entertainment.

Personal life

Ross resides in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. He is an advocate for ocean conservation and works with the non-profit organization Oceana. In 2020, he participated in a fundraising campaign for the Motion Picture & Television Fund. Ross is also a trained scuba diver and has documented diving expeditions in the Florida Keys for National Geographic's digital platforms. He is in a relationship with cinematographer Maya Solis, whom he met on the set of The Silent Shore.
