Yubei District

Yubei District Yubei District is a district of Chongqing Municipality, China. It is located on the northern part of the municipality, bordering Baoding City, Langfang City and Tianjin to the north, and Jiangjin District, Hechuan District and Changshou District to the east, south and west respectively. The district covers an area of 1,225 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 1.3 million.

Geography

Yubei District is situated in the Jinliang River valley, with the Jinliang River flowing through the district. The district's terrain is characterized by low hills and plains, with an average elevation of 300-500 meters above sea level. The climate is humid subtropical, with four distinct seasons. The district is rich in natural resources, including coal, iron ore and limestone.

History

Yubei District has a long history dating back to the Han Dynasty, when it was part of Shu County. During the Tang Dynasty, it was known as Jinliang County. In the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Yubei County. In 1995, Yubei County was upgraded to a district of Chongqing Municipality. The district has a number of historical sites, including the Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Shapingba-Yubei expressway, which dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Economy

Yubei District has a diverse economy, with major industries including agriculture, manufacturing and services. The district is known for its production of automobiles, electronics and food processing. It is home to a number of large companies, including Chongqing Iron & Steel Co. and Chongqing Yubei Electric Power Co. The district has also invested heavily in infrastructure development, including the construction of highways, airports and industrial parks.

Transportation

Yubei District has a well-developed transportation network, with a number of highways, expressways and railways passing through the district. The Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, one of the busiest airports in China, is located in the district. The district is also connected to Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou by high-speed rail. In addition, the district has a number of bus and taxi services, making it easy to get around.

Education and Culture

Yubei District has a number of schools, universities and cultural institutions. The district is home to Chongqing University's Yubei Campus, as well as Chongqing Normal University's Yubei Campus. The district also has a number of museums, libraries and theaters, including the Yubei District Museum and the Yubei District Library.
