Early Life

Yeardley Smith was born on July 26, 1958, in Paris, France, to Julia Smith, an actress and American stage actress, and Jeffrey Smith, a voice actor. Her parents moved to the United States when she was five years old and settled in McLean, Virginia. Smith developed an interest in acting at a young age and attended McLean High School.

Career

Smith began her acting career in the 1980s, appearing in various off-Broadway productions and television commercials. Her breakthrough role came in 1987 when she was cast as Marge Simpson on The Simpsons, a role she has held for over three decades. In addition to her work on The Simpsons, Smith has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including The West Wing, Boston Public, and The Larry Sanders Show. She has also made guest appearances on shows such as The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and 2 Broke Girls.

Personal Life

Smith has been married four times: to Christopher G. Reeve from 1983 until his death in 2006; to Dan Gillroy from 2008 to 2010; and to David M. Stern from 2012 to 2014. She has one daughter, Amanda Reavey, from her first marriage. Smith is a supporter of several charitable organizations, including the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America and the American Cancer Society.
