Ryan Seacrest

Ryan Seacrest is an American media personality, producer, and businessman. He is widely known as the host of the singing competition series American Idol and the longtime host of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. Seacrest also hosts a nationally syndicated Top 40 radio program, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and has built a significant production portfolio through his company Ryan Seacrest Productions.

Early life and education

He was born on December 24, 1974, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Connie and Gary Seacrest. He attended Dunwoody High School and developed an early interest in broadcasting, interning at WSTR radio while still a student. Seacrest briefly attended the University of Georgia before leaving to pursue his broadcasting career in Los Angeles.

Career

His broadcasting career began in the early 1990s with hosting duties on ESPN's Radical Outdoor Challenge and the children's television game show Gladiators 2000. He gained wider recognition as the host of the first season of American Idol in 2002, a role he maintained for the show's initial fifteen-season run on Fox and its revival on ABC. Concurrently, he launched the nationally syndicated radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM in 2004, becoming the successor to Rick Dees in the coveted Los Angeles morning drive slot. In 2005, he began co-hosting Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Dick Clark, taking over as sole host after Clark's death and becoming an iconic fixture of the annual celebration from Times Square. His production company, Ryan Seacrest Productions, has been behind numerous successful television series, including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, its spinoffs like The Kardashians, and talk shows such as Live with Kelly and Ryan, which he co-hosted with Kelly Ripa from 2017 to 2023.

He has been in a relationship with model Aubrey Paige since 2021. Previously, he was engaged to actress and model Julianne Hough and had a long-term relationship with Shayna Taylor. He maintains residences in Los Angeles and New York City. In 2017, he was the subject of a misconduct allegation by a former stylist at E! News; an independent investigation commissioned by E!'s parent company NBCUniversal found insufficient evidence to support the claim.

Throughout his career, he has received several major industry honors. He has won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards for his work on Live with Kelly and Ryan and has been nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards for hosting American Idol. The National Association of Broadcasters awarded him the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame award. In 2019, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located near the Kodak Theatre.
