Rashida Leah Jones was born in Los Angeles to legendary music producer Quincy Jones and actress and model Peggy Lipton, known for her role on The Mod Squad. She was raised with her sisters, Kidada Jones and Kenya Jones, and half-siblings including producer Quincy Jones III, in the Bel Air neighborhood, immersed in a milieu of entertainment and music. Jones attended the prestigious Buckley School in Sherman Oaks before enrolling at Harvard University. At Harvard, she was a member of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals and the a cappella group the Harvard Lowells, graduating in 1997 with a degree in religion and philosophy.
