New Jersey's 18th legislative district is a constituency of the New Jersey Legislature located in Central New Jersey, primarily within Middlesex County. The district is represented in the New Jersey Senate by Patrick J. Diegnan and in the New Jersey General Assembly by Robert J. Karabinchak and Sterley Stanley, all members of the Democratic Party. It is considered a reliably Democratic district, encompassing a diverse mix of suburban communities, commercial corridors, and academic institutions.

History

The district was established with the 1973 reapportionment, replacing the previous 18th district. For much of its early history, it was a politically competitive area, electing officials from both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.
