The site of the present-day estate was originally a large granite quarry operated by the Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock Company, which supplied materials for major projects like the construction of the Kai Tak Airport runway. The residential project, named Kornhill, was constructed in phases throughout the 1980s, coinciding with the opening of the adjacent Tai Koo station.
