Kevin Kinkirk

Kevin Kinkirk is an American actor and producer known for his work in film and television. He gained recognition for his role in the FX series The Shield and has since appeared in numerous projects across various genres. Kinkirk has also produced several independent films and is a co-founder of the production company Baldwin Hills Productions.

Early life and education

Kevin Kinkirk was born on October 18, 1972, in Los Angeles, California. He attended Beverly Hills High School, where he first became involved in theater, performing in productions of works by William Shakespeare and Tennessee Williams. Following his graduation, he pursued further training at the University of Southern California, majoring in dramatic arts and studying under renowned acting coach Larry Moss. His early professional training included workshops at the Groundlings improvisational comedy troupe and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City.

Career

Kinkirk began his professional career with guest appearances on television series such as Beverly Hills, 90210 and NYPD Blue in the mid-1990s. His breakthrough came in 2002 when he was cast as a recurring character on the critically acclaimed police drama The Shield, which aired on the FX network. This role led to more substantial parts in films like the independent drama The Last Full Measure and the science fiction thriller The Arrival. In 2008, he co-founded the production entity Baldwin Hills Productions with fellow actor Michael B. Jordan, focusing on developing character-driven projects for HBO and Netflix. As a producer, his credits include the Sundance Film Festival selection The Sound of Silence and the docuseries Making a Murderer. He has also directed episodes for series such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Chicago P.D..

Personal life

Kinkirk married actress Eliza Dushku in a private ceremony in Napa Valley in 2018. The couple are active supporters of several charitable organizations, including the Environmental Defense Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union. An avid outdoorsman, he participates in annual fundraising hikes for the National Park Service and is a certified scuba diving instructor. He resides primarily in Los Angeles but also maintains a residence in Portland, Oregon.
