Notable features include a replica of the Oval Office as it appeared during the Bush administration and a serene Japanese garden dedicated to First Lady Barbara Bush.

The archival holdings constitute one of the most comprehensive records of a late-20th century presidency, containing over 44 million pages of textual materials, 2 million photographs, and thousands of hours of audio and video recordings covering Bush's tenure as Vice President, President, Director of Central Intelligence, and Ambassador to the UN. Permanent exhibits chronicle key events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Persian Gulf War, and the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
