The system was formally established in 1994 through the merger of two longstanding Davenport, Iowa institutions: St. Luke's Hospital and Mercy Hospital. Key historical expansions include the affiliation with Illini Hospital in Silvis, Illinois in 1995, extending its reach into Illinois. A significant milestone was the 2004 opening of the Genesis Medical Center, Davenport campus, a major facility replacement project. Further growth continued with the acquisition of the former Trinity Medical Center in Moline and Rock Island in 2013, solidifying its presence as a bi-state provider.
