Expocentre. Expocentre is a major exhibition and convention complex located in the Moscow Moscow-City district on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment. As one of the largest and most significant exhibition venues in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, it hosts a wide array of international trade fairs, congresses, and public events. History

The origins of Expocentre trace back to the Soviet Union's push to expand international trade relations, with its first major exhibition held in 1959. The permanent complex on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment was officially opened in 1977, becoming a landmark of Soviet exhibition architecture. Throughout the late 20th century, it was the primary venue for showcasing achievements of the Soviet planned economy to foreign partners, hosting events like the renowned Intermash exhibition. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Expocentre was reorganized into a joint-stock company and underwent significant modernization to meet international standards, cementing its status during the economic transitions of the 1990s and 2000s.

Facilities

The Expocentre complex encompasses several large pavilions and open-air grounds with a total exhibition space exceeding 250,000 square meters. Its central pavilions, including the historic Pavilion No. 1 and the modern Forum Hall, are equipped with state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure, conference rooms, and press centers. The facilities are supported by extensive logistics services, customs offices, and banking institutions like Sberbank. Located within the Moscow International Business Centre, it benefits from proximity to major hotels such as the Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow, the Bagration Bridge, and excellent transport links via the Delovoy Tsentr Moscow Metro station.

Expocentre annually hosts over 100 exhibitions and congresses spanning diverse industries, which are pivotal for the Russian industry. Key regular events include the Moscow International Oil and Gas Exhibition (MIOGE), the International Exhibition for Transport and Logistics (TransRussia), and the WorldFood Moscow exhibition. It also serves as the venue for major international forums such as the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum satellite events and the Russian Investment Forum. In addition to trade fairs, the complex accommodates public consumer shows, cultural exhibitions, and has been selected to host competitions during the 1980 Summer Olympics and other major sporting events.

Expocentre is managed by the joint-stock company Expocentre ZAO, which operates under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
