Ernest Bevin College

Ernest Bevin College is a comprehensive secondary school for boys aged 11 to 19, located in the Tooting area of the London Borough of Wandsworth. Founded in 1976, the school is named after Ernest Bevin, the prominent Labour Party politician and Foreign Secretary who served in Clement Attlee's post-war government. The college was established in 1976 through the amalgamation of two existing secondary modern schools, Battersea County School and Tooting Bec School, as part of a wider reorganization of education in Inner London. It was named in honour of Ernest Bevin, a former General Secretary of the TGWU and a key figure in the establishment of the NATO alliance. The school has occupied its current site on Beechcroft Road since its foundation, with significant expansions and refurbishments undertaken in subsequent decades. In 2017, the school was designated as a National Teaching School, reflecting its role in training educators across the South London region.
