Debbie Matenopoulos is an American television host and author best known as an original co-host of the daytime talk show The View. Early life and education

Debbie Matenopoulos was born on December 13, 1974, in Rochester, New York, to Greek immigrant parents. She was raised in a Greek Orthodox household in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she attended First Colonial High School. Matenopoulos pursued higher education at Fordham University in The Bronx, graduating with a degree in journalism. During her time at university, she also studied at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology and gained early media experience through internships.

Career

Matenopoulos's breakthrough came in 1997 when, at age 22, she was selected as one of the original co-hosts of the ABC daytime talk show The View, alongside Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, and Joy Behar. After leaving the show in 1999, she transitioned into entertainment journalism, becoming a correspondent and host for E! News and appearing on programs like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She later hosted her own talk show, The Debbie Matenopoulos Show, on the Oxygen network. In the 2010s, she expanded into lifestyle television, co-hosting HGTV's Everyday Italian and appearing on the Food Network and Cooking Channel. She has also been a frequent guest and guest host on shows such as The Rachael Ray Show and Good Morning America.

Personal life

Matenopoulos married television producer Jon Falcone in 2009 in a ceremony in Greece. The couple resides in Los Angeles. She is an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church and often incorporates her Hellenic heritage into her public work. Matenopoulos is also involved with various charitable organizations, including those supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Hellenic American Leadership Council.
