The organization is led by a President and CEO, with guidance from a Board of directors comprising leaders from business, science, and civic life. It is funded through a combination of private donations from its over 300,000 members and supporters, grants from foundations such as the Keith Campbell Foundation for the Environment, and government contracts for specific restoration work. Financial oversight is maintained to ensure the majority of resources directly support Chesapeake Bay cleanup and education programs across the watershed.
