Cedric Antonio Kyles was born on April 24, 1964, in Jefferson City, Missouri, and was raised in Berkeley, Missouri. He attended Berkeley High School before pursuing higher education at Southeast Missouri State University and later transferring to UNLV. His early career path included working as a client service representative for State Farm Insurance, where he began performing stand-up comedy at local clubs in St. Louis. This period honed his comedic timing and relatable storytelling style, setting the foundation for his future in entertainment.

Career

His breakthrough came in the late 1990s when he joined the immensely popular *Original Kings of Comedy* tour alongside Steve Harvey, D. L. Hughley, and Bernie Mac, which was later filmed by director Spike Lee. This exposure led to his starring role as Coach Cedric Jackie Robinson on the WB network's The Steve Harvey Show. He successfully transitioned to film, headlining hits like Barbershop and its sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, as well as the comedy Johnson Family Vacation. He later starred in and executive produced the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood. His hosting duties have included the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.
