Baku Crystal Hall is a multi-purpose indoor arena located on the coast of the Caspian Sea in the capital city of Azerbaijan. The decision to construct a new arena was made swiftly after Azerbaijan won the right to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 following Eldar & Nigar's victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf. The Government of Azerbaijan commissioned the project, with planning and construction completed in a remarkably short eight-month period. The site chosen was on a newly reclaimed area of coastline along the Baku Boulevard, transforming the city's waterfront.
