The network has expanded to include institutions such as the National University of Singapore, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and University of Yangon. Membership criteria emphasize academic excellence, institutional leadership, and a commitment to regional cooperation, with admission approved by the network's governing board.

Programs and activities

Its flagship initiatives include the ASEAN University Network Student Exchange Program and the ASEAN International Mobility for Students program, which facilitate semester-long exchanges.
